It's Easter, Enjoy One and All

Today we celebrate the resurrection of Christ who sacrificed his life for our sins. Easter Sunday is also the culmination of lent so many will begin enjoying the things such as activities, food etc they gave up for the past 40 days. It is a blessing to be able to celebrate this occasion with loved ones.

My Easter weekend started with attending a surprise party for my brother Brent and sister in law Felicia who have been married 20 years. I remember going to their wedding 20 years ago. Amazing how time flies. They are a great couple who have done wonderful things not only for their immediate family but extended family as well. May they have many many more happy years.

Easter Sunday I spent the day with my parents. Much of the day we just sat outside on the porch listening to the birds sing and talking about whatever crossed our minds. These are good times. Not doing anything in particular but really doing a lot that matters.

I hope everyone is having a meaningful Easter weekend in whatever form that means to you. Easter dinner is approaching so I am going to gear up to partake. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL.

You Can't Say I Don't Know How to Live Life

WOW, I think I took my blog title Living Life Limitless  too literally and tried to do it all in this one week. LOL I was so busy living life that I did not get to blog all week so I decided to do a week in review. I even created a cool picture collage to note all the places and things I did this week. One thing I left off is the fact that I worked over 60 hours on legal and professor duties but who wants a picture of work displayed. :) So as you can imagine I got very little sleep this week.

So yes, it is possible to play hard and work hard all in the same week. I did not set out to do this even though I am all for having a good time when I can. My sorority sister Charlene was visiting from Iowa so I had to make sure she had a good time and boy did we ever. Sunday we started off at Lakewood Church, had lunch at the Breakfast Klub, shopped at the Galleria, went to see the movie the Call and closed the evening with margarita's at ChaCho's. After a full day of work on Monday, I picked Charlene up and we headed to the Alicia Keys and Miguel concert at the Toyota Center, which was fabulous. Tuesday work work work in the day then play play play at the Centric Happy Hour at the Living Room. Wednesday more work of course as well as a meeting and then we closed the day with a discussion of the Temptation movie at TSU. I cannot wait until that one comes out. I had a lunch get together on Thursday but I needed to work through the day so finally I took a day off from the fun. Love Fridays because not only was it the end of the work week, it was Happy Hour time at the Oceanaire with my lovely LCubed sisters. We have too much fun together. Everyone should have sista friends to hang and share with and do it on a regular basis. So Saturday and believe it or not, I worked 10 hours before heading to see the play, Company at the Texas Repertory Theater. Our lovely director of Night Court was starring in the show and the Night Court crew came out to support her.

I must admit this was a little extreme. I do not recall my weeks ever being quite like this but I would do it over again to hang out with good friends, enjoy good entertainment, and good food and I was mindful because I am still shredding so I only had a few inappropriate meals so don't judge me. I know everyone cannot possibly be on the go as much as I am but take time to have some fun. We all have to work but you can still have enjoyment with family, friends or even by yourself So Get Out There and Live!

Bye Bye Week 3-Shred Diet

Whew! This is the last meal of week three, a strawberry/blackberry/raspberry smoothie with yogurt and orange juice. I love a good smoothie but I cannot say that I am not glad this liquid week is done. Looking forward to more options in week 4. Let's go!

Shredding Can Be Fun!

As I mentioned on my first post, I am doing the Dr. Ian Smith Shred Revolutionary diet. I am on my second cycle of week 3. The book is very easy to use because for six weeks, it plans your meals and exercise requirements so you just follow along and selects what works best for you.

As you can see from the cover, the book notes you can be lose 4 inches and 2 sizes in six weeks. During the first cycle, I went out of the country so I was not as strict and had to pick back up when I returned. I actually noted this in an email to Dr. Ian and he called me and left a nice encouraging message. I was very surprised and sad at the same time because I missed the call but just knowing that he took the time out of his busy schedule to call made me even more motivated to stay on track. I finished the first cycle and while I was not down many pounds like others I had read about, I lost lots of inches. I could tell by the fit of my clothes and the measurements so I am very happy with my progress. So now I am on cycle two, basically I started over for another six weeks. This week is a challenge because its the third week called Transformation. It consists of less calorie options and mostly liquid items like smoothies, protein shakes, and soups. I did have a treat today for meal 1. Check out my egg white omelet with mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes, a banana and orange juice not from concentrate.

With the diet comes exercise 5 days a week. During the first cycle, I mostly walked on the treadmill but for this second cycle, I have been using the elliptical machine and setting the machine on the fat burning course. This way, I can hold onto the heart rate monitor and make sure my heart rate stays in the fat burning zone.  Check out my elliptical for today, 4.55 miles, 42.40 minutes and 201 calories.

My second meal consisted of a protein shake, water and tea. My fourth meals was a protein shake, lentils, tea, and water. My third meal was tomato soup, salad, wheat crackers, tea and water. While it may not sound that appealing, it really was tasty. I have discovered progresso and healthy choice soups. My favorite one is the tomato. I spice my salads up with strawberries, cran-raisins and walnuts and a sprinkle of lemon pepper seasoning. Check it out to the right. Snacks are also included in the diet and on this second cycle I have not eaten them like I did on the previous one. I have eaten some this week though since these meals are more liquid.

I am really enjoying the shred diet and its been fun going to the store and trying on smaller sizes. The scale is going down each week and I am expecting that to continue. I have several friends who are shredding and they are seeing results as well.

So if you don't believe me. Listen to what Dr. Ian has to say about the shred diet. Just click on the link here.

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello Bloggers!

I decided to create this blog to share my thoughts and experiences on living life limitless. There are a number of areas that I will focus on.

  • Travel: I absolutely love to travel.  Sometimes I look up at the sky and see airplanes and wonder where they are going or where they are coming from. I love floating in the friendly skies to places near and far. This year, there are places in the United States that I plan to venture to as well as what I call my year of International AnVentures.

  • Health and Fitness: I always try to maintain a good workout regime. At any given time, I engage in certain activities like running, walking, weight training, group fitness etc. I am also trying to maintain better eating habits. Currently, I am on the Dr. Ian Smith Shred Revolutionary diet trying to get fit and trim before summer and maintain it thereafter.
  • Writing: I love writing. My major was English in undergrad so I really had no choice. After college, I worked as a public affairs specialist for the U.S. Army. I wrote news and feature articles, speeches and was the editor of the organization newspaper. I maintained those skills throughout graduate school as the editor of several graduate newsletters and currently an associate editor of a professional magazine and write articles as well. I do want to do more writing and have been writing a book for ages so maybe this blog will get my fingers moving in the right direction.

  • Winning:  I win a lot of things. Prizes have ranged from money, trips, gift cards, concert tickets, electronics and even a car.  I do not think I won these things by chance. I believe that I prepared myself to win; I was patient until my time to win came; and I took action and was persistent to make my idea of winning a reality.  I also believe I am winning in my career, health, relationships, etc. So it shall be interesting to see what wins lie ahead.

  • Fun & Leisure: Those who know me know that I am all about fun, happiness and joy. I enjoy the moments of life and do things that make me happy and try to do things for others along the way. One of the things that makes me most happy is going to concerts to see my favorites entertainers.. New Edition. I have gotten a lot of side eyes for this obsession but it is a good one. I have been to many a concert but I also enjoy many things in life i.e. happy hours, concerts, plays, sporting events, museums, hanging out with friends, volunteering and the list goes on. Posts for this area will be all about what is fun for me so join me on the ride. Cheers!

So I am excited and look forward to sharing my journey as I am . .........Living Life Limitless!
